This is Not Just a Degree
Our degree pathway is not your ordinary qualification. Think of it as a road lined with late-night mind maps and early morning “aha” moments. It’s the spark of an idea that grows into something alive.
It’s falling in love with a design concept, breaking up with it, and getting back together under a deadline.
You'll learn the true language of typography—telling a story before a single word is read. You’ll zoom in until the pixels blur, and zoom out until the world slides into view.
This course is a map—but it’s one you’ll redraw a hundred times. Because good design isn’t about shortcuts.
There will be critiques that scare you and feedback that inspires. You’ll stare at a blank screen and fill it with something only you could have made. And in doing so, you’ll build more than a portfolio. You’ll build your process. Your niche. Your voice.
You’ll stop asking, “Am I creative?” and start asking, “What can I do with it?” You’ll design ethically, fail boldly, and learn what it takes to make something that finally clicks.
You won’t just leave with a degree. You’ll leave with a fully fledged creative identity.
Creativity with Purpose: A Graphic Design Degree Rooted in Real-World Practice
This BA (Hons) Graphic Design pathway is built for the realities of the design industry. It blends creative exploration with practical experience and academic excellence—ensuring you’re prepared for professional practice across today’s creative landscape.
From day one, you’ll design for real audiences in authentic contexts. You’ll learn to work with purpose—prioritising sustainability, accessibility, and social impact.
Throughout the course, theory and practice go hand in hand. You’ll move from concept to execution, from research to meaningful outcomes—developing not just design skills, but the discipline and mindset of a professional.
You’ll evolve into a Creative Thinker who transforms ideas into reality, a Professional Communicator who can shape and present compelling visions, and an Industry-Ready Designer equipped with the technical expertise and interpersonal skills needed to thrive in today’s creative landscape.
Design doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It’s a response to culture, technology, environment, and people. That’s why this course nurtures you into a designer who can adapt, understand, and make work that matters. Work that is inclusive. Relevant. Responsible.
Your Path: From HND to a Level6 BA (Hons) Top-Up Degree
You’ll begin with a Pearson-accredited Higher National Diploma (HND) in Graphic Design. You’ll think, research, sketch, and execute just like a professional.
You’ll respond to live briefs and build real projects, learning to manage deadlines, reflect on feedback, and grow in confidence.
As you progress, the focus shifts to strategic branding, stakeholder communication, and tackling complex challenges that reflect real industry standards.
Once you’ve successfully completed your HND, you can advance to the BA (Hons) Level 6 Top-Up degree awarded by the University of Hertfordshire, delivered through the British Academy of Graphic Design.
The Outcome: Your Voice, Your Vision
By the time you reach the end of the course, you won’t just have completed a degree — you’ll have shaped a creative identity.
You’ll graduate with a strong, versatile portfolio that captures your unique voice as a designer. More importantly, you’ll leave knowing how to think critically, communicate clearly, and create with impact.
You won’t just know how to design new things. You’ll know how to contribute. You’ll be challenged. You’ll grow. And when you leave, you’ll take more than a scroll—you’ll take a sense of self.
The result? A bold, versatile, industry-ready portfolio that tells the story of your creative evolution.
You won’t just learn how to design new things—you’ll learn how to think creatively, how to question, and how to contribute. You’ll be challenged. You’ll grow. And when you leave, you’ll take more than a degree with you—you’ll take your voice.
And that’s just the beginning.
